Police have confirmed twelve people have been killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire at a municipal building in Virginia Beach in the United States. Authorities say the gunman, who was a longtime employee of the public utilities department, opened fire and shot 'indiscriminately'. Police Chief James Cervera says the gunman was confronted shortly after opening fire and later died at the scene. Mayor Bobby Dyer has labelled the attack 'the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach'.
