Johnson requests three month Brexit delay

The British Prime Minister has been forced to write to the European Union, requesting a three month delay to Brexit - despite his plan to take the UK out of the EU on October 31st. Boris Johnson has not signed the letter to European Council President Donald Tusk requesting the extension. Mr Johnson also wrote a second letter - which he has signed - explaining why EU leaders should not grant another extension. Mr Johnson was legally forced to request a delay after MPs voted against giving their approval to the Brexit deal until all necessary legislation has been passed. Next week he will introduce a bill to put his deal into law - at which time he hopes the majority of MPs will back his agreement. Image: Getty
