A little girl couldn’t contain her excitement when rain fell for the first time in months on her family’s drought-affected property near Louth, New South Wales, on Saturday, November 2. Five-year-old Esther was filmed enjoying the downpour at her home near Bourke in the state’s north-west. Bourke received around 28mm of rain on Saturday – the first significant downpour since July, according to Bureau of Meteorology statistics. “It’s raining, finally,” Esther can be heard saying in the background of the footage. “I always wanted it to rain,” she says. “We have had 38mm since last night. It’s been lovely,” Bec Bennett, who filmed this video, told Storyful. “Drought babies are precious,” she said. “To say the kids were excited when it started raining is an understatement!” Credit: Bec Bennett via Storyful
