NSW Police to investigate dating app risks

New South Wales police commissioner Mick Fuller has appointed an expert to investigate the potential exploitation of dating apps by serial rapists. Mr Fuller said he believed predators were using apps to lure victims, but privacy laws were preventing people from reporting the attacks. The Commissioner said the project will investigate if dating sites are enabling rapists, rather than looking for evidence to prosecute. Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton agreed Australians needed more protection online. Over the past 10 years the rate of reported attacks has increased by 2.3 per cent. With almost 2,000 reported sexual assaults on adults in NSW during the 12 months to June this year. Image: Getty
