Queensland police are treating a bushfire that destroyed homes and prompted widespread evacuations north of Toowoomba as arson. Police have not yet determined the cause of the Pechey bushfire but there’s speculation it may have been deliberately lit. The blaze started on Tuesday and has burnt more than 15,000 hectares of land. Dozens of people were forced to evacuate due to the Pechey fire, including residents from a local nursing home.
