HOYTS Cinema is set to reopen across Australia in a “staggered approach” from July 2, according to HOYTS Group CEO Damian Keough. Mr Keough told Sky News that after nearly three months of being closed, the cinema group has “an incredible number of protocols in place to try and create the safest possible environment for our workers and our customers”. He said the industry however was very much dependent upon production in Hollywood film studios where the majority of popular films are made. “We can’t really get back to full operation capacity until the majority of cinemas in the US and Europe are open,” he said. “There’s been a lot of cash burnt in the industry so it will take a period of recovery and we‘re hoping that Australians, when they do feel safe and the content is right, that they will embrace the movie-going experience once more.” Image: News Corp Australia
