IBM’s ‘Forward Slash’ podcast on scientists using a ‘super computer’ to find a COVID-19 cure

A new super-computer is promising to greatly accelerate efforts to find a cure for coronavirus after some of the world's biggest tech companies agreed to team up in a rare show of collaboration. Technology Editor at the Australian David Swan told Sky News tech giants “are opening up their resources for the first time in a fight for a vaccine”. Mr Swan discussed The Australian's ‘Forward Slash’, a podcast series about how massive change and technology are colliding in our present moment. The podcast launched yesterday and is a “deep dive into technology” with the first episode focusing on the race for a COVID-19 vaccine which has been helped along by this super-computing power. “We spoke to scientists who are using super-computer power to model the virus and use artificial intelligence to work out what might actually block its receptors and eventually find a cure,” he said.
