United States President Donald Trump says a complete decoupling from China remains a policy option for the US. However one of the President’s key trade representatives testified that the US did not have the option to totally sever supply chains between the two countries. President Trump called for sanctions to punish Chinese officials for human rights abuses against the country’s Muslim minority, however his former national security advisor claimed Mr Trump supported the construction of camps to detain Uighurs.
