Transformer Explodes Into Fireball During Tornado in Edgewater, Maryland

Severe weather was reported in Maryland on Thursday, September 3, as a tornado was confirmed just south of Annapolis. Footage of the storm in Edgewater shows severe winds and sheets of rain, with a transformer exploding into a fireball. “Have never seen a storm come up so fast and hard. I had just ran in the door from outside, turned and filmed, then boom,” Steven Chandler, who filmed this video, told Storyful. The National Weather Service reported the EF-1 tornado reached estimated winds of 90 mph, with most damage being a result of downed trees. Credit: Steven Chandler via Storyful
