Melbourne scientists say a new arthritis drug may prevent type 1 diabetes. St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research found a rheumatoid arthritis drug prevented the body from destroying insulin producing cells. Victorians will be the first in the world to trial the drug as a potential cure to the disease. On average, seven Australians are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes every day.
