The capacity at Howard Springs is due to increase from the beginning of May under a $500 million deal struck between the Northern Territory and federal government. The expansion will increase the number of people able to quarantine at the site from 400 to 1,000. However, concerns were raised after 400 staffing positions were advertised but only 70 places were filled.
