Truck drivers across Australia are walking off the job today, with thousands expected to participate in the protest. From midnight, 7,000 TOLL drivers will strike nationwide for 24 hours, potentially causing disruption for food, fuel, and package deliveries. Truckers are disputing a workplace proposal which the Transport Workers’ Union says will open up work for contractors but does not need to provide any to permanent employees. The union has said delivery of vaccines and essential medical supplies will not be disrupted by the strike.
