The Fawn Fire burned 5,850 acres in Shasta County, California, and was 10 percent contained as of Friday, September 24, after thousands of residents evacuated a day prior, according to local officials. This footage filmed by Brittanie Pivinski shows a smoke-filled sky near Shasta Lake on Thursday. “During our drive through Shasta Lake, we ran right into a wildfire,” she wrote in a caption. “As we’re entering the area, I get emergency alerts saying they’re evacuating this area.” Pivinski wrote, “It was bright and sunny, then all of a sudden it goes dark from all the heavy smoke and flames. It was wild. My eyes burned for a solid 45 minutes after driving through the fire.” Credit: Brittanie Pivinski via Storyful
