The British government is easing restrictions for travellers entering despite more than 194,000 new COVID cases. Health authorities confirmed the deaths of 334 people within 28 days of a positive test. From Friday – fully vaccinated people returning to the country will no longer have to take pre-departure tests or quarantine on arrival. Instead, they will have to undergo a lateral flow test at the end of day two after they arrive in the UK. If a positive test is received, travellers are required to take a PCR test to confirm. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has defended the decision.
