China has expressed “strong dissatisfaction” at US President Joe Biden's statement the United States would defend Taiwan if attacked by China. Mr Biden made the comments on the eve of the Quad summit in Tokyo. China's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin recently issued a statement saying: "No one should underestimate the staunch will and strong ability of the Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity”. Mr Wenbin warned the US to abide by its One-China Principle, which does not recognise Taiwan's independence.
