Football's governing body FIFA and World Athletics will review the regulations regarding the participation of transgender athletes by the end of the year. It comes after the swimming governing body FINA voted to restrict the participation of transgender athletes in elite women's competitions. FINA will also institute a committee to work on establishing a third 'open' category for participation in future elite-level competitions.
