French President Emmanuel Macron says the rift between France and Australia is in “the past” as he met Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Paris. The announcement of the AUKUS pact in September led to the deterioration of Mr Macron and former Australian prime minister Scott Morrison’s relationship – resulting in France accusing Australia of breaking its trust. Mr Macron said he did not need an apology from Mr Albanese. “He’s not responsible for what happened,” Mr Macron said.
