Independence Day shooting ‘proof’ changing gun laws ‘won’t change anything’

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney says the Independence Day mass shooting at Highland Park is “proof” altering gun laws “won’t change anything”. Six people were killed and 24 hospitalised following the shooting during an Independence Day parade. Mr Mulvaney said Chicago has some of the “most restrictive” rules on gun ownership in the US. “Sick people, demented people … they’re still going to be able to get guns,” he told Sky News Australia. “So the question is are you going to limit the freedoms of other law-abiding citizens at the same time in order to not solve a problem.”
