US Federal Reserve raises interest rates by 0.75 per cent

The US Federal Reserve has raised interest rates by 0.75 per cent. The rate increase is the fourth this year – and lifts the target rate to between 2.25 and 2.5 per cent. Members of the Federal Reserve voted unanimously in favour of the supersized rate hike – as the central bank tries to tackle rising inflation.
