Heavy rains on New Zealand’s east coast on Thursday, August 30, caused flooding and run-off debris from forestry sites in Ruatoria. Ruatoria received 46 mm of rain between 8 am and 1 pm, according to local news site Stuff. Several schools and roads in the region were forced to close. The region was under a heavy rain warning on Wednesday. In this video, captured by Hiruharama local Manu Caddie, run-off from a forestry site can be seen flooding into a stream beside Waiapu Road.
