Current enforcement regime into banks ‘isn’t satisfactory’

The banking royal commissioner's interim report has exposed the 'ugliness' of the inner-workings of the finance sector, says former Labor MP and SAS Group Consultant Bernie Ripoll. Commissioner Kenneth Hayne QC has criticised the culture of greed permeating the big banks and slammed regulators for being too soft on bad behaviour. Mr Ripoll told Sky News he remains unsatisfied with the level of punishment and the monetary amounts of fines placed on the big banks. Image: David Geraghty/ News Corp Australia
