Close contact of Queensland COVID case tests positive

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced a second case of local transmission in a close contact of the 26-year-old who tested positive on Thursday. “I can report that we’ve had six new cases overnight, five of these are in hotel quarantine and one is a close contact of the man,” she said. “So we do have one as community transmission but he is a close contact of the man we mentioned yesterday. “Once again that's very good news and like I said, the next two days are still going to be critical for us”. Ms Palaszczuk specifically asked those who attended the Carindale shopping centre last Saturday between 12:00pm and 2:16pm to come forward for testing. “We just want to rule out every single possibility here so the sooner that everyone does this, the better we will be,” she said. “We have identified 18 close contacts of the man who has the original community transmission source and the contact tracers are doing an excellent job”.
