Defence Minister Christopher Pyne says Australia and France are in no rush to sign a final deal to build the next fleet of Australian submarines, but Peta Credlin says decisions about the next fleet should have been made 10 years ago. A powerful strategic deterrent, such as a submarine fleet, is an absolute necessity, if Australia is to be taken seriously in 'an ever-more-complicated world', Ms Credlin warns. She says Australia should not have the ‘complacent assumption that everything will be fine’.
