Democrats have officially subpoenaed the White House for documents related to their impeachment investigation against the US president. Officials say they were forced to issue the subpoena after the White House failed to produce the documents requested early in September. The investigation has also uncovered text messages sent between members of the Trump administration, in which they appear to show the extent of pressure put on Ukraine to investigate Donald Trump's potential political rival Joe Biden.
