Researchers are trialing a new treatment method in the US, designed to help people suffering from lung and pancreatic cancer. Oncologist Dr Philip Salem described the research as a new approach to cancer therapy and believes the most important development in cancer medicine in the last four to five years has been immunotherapy. The concept combines existing treatments like immunotherapy and chemotherapy with targeted therapy, which is the delineation of a genetic mutation designed to help a patient's individual needs.
