Up to 1,500 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer yearly

Professor Clare Scott from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre says up to 1,500 Australian women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Ovarian Cancer is the 10th most commonly diagnosed cancer among young women in Australia but is an often less discussed form of cancer. Jackie Polonsky joined Weekend Edition on Saturday to discuss her battle with the cancer and said she was "very open with her diagnosis" because she hopes women will discuss cancer with their loved ones. "We are very lucky in this country... the treatment I've received has been fantastic," she said. Image: Getty
