A car was wrecked by a fallen tree that was uprooted after a wild storm hit Sydney on February 18, which left one man dead and cut power to thousands of residents. The severe storm saw gusts of over 100 km/h recorded in the city’s west, while heavy rainfall and hail were also observed. NSW Police said a 37-year-old man received severe injuries after a gas bottle became airborne at The Rocks in Sydney’s Central Business District. The man later died after being rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital. Around 80,000 people in Sydney lost power during the storm, according to Ausgrid, as trees were brought down on power lines and properties. Credit: Joseph Godoy via Storyful
