A national commemorative service is underway in Canberra for the 50th anniversary of Operation Hammersley in Vietnam. The operation was carried out in the Long Hai area of Vietnam during the war with Australian troops ordered to secure a quarry site at the foot of the hills. The rugged terrain and hidden caves made it a costly operation for Australians as 12 were killed and 59 wounded. Image: News Corp Australia
