Arizona National Guard Delivers Food to Navajo Nation

The Arizona National Guard delivered supplies from a local food bank in Black Mesa on April 17 as the Navajo Nation fought to contain the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. On April 20, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez tweeted federal funding was starting to roll in, and crowdfunded donations were being accepted to help the response to the virus. Limited personal protective equipment (PPE) and resources had been available to medical professionals working in the Nation, which had reportedly been short of funding amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Nez told KOAT the Navajo Nation had partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, and the Arizona and New Mexico National Guard to set up several alternative care sites in Arizona and New Mexico.
