A military-style operation will be undertaken off the NSW coast to test thousands of crew members on board eight cruise ships – with Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton accusing some companies of “lying” about their health. The Australian government issued a warning to the ships to leave Australian waters but that order has since been appealed. The cruise ships are anchored off the NSW coast and refuse to leave for fear their crew members could fall ill to the virus and not have access to proper medical care. NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said any crew members who tested positive for COVID-19 would be taken off their ship and treated, but if all of the crew were healthy the ship would be forced to leave.
