Dr. Zevy Hamburger, an anesthesiologist at The Mount Sinai Hospital, donated plasma on April 22 after he recovered from the coronavirus, in hopes of helping others who had been diagnosed with the virus, his video diary shows. According to a statement from the hospital, he is now back at work. In this video, he can be seen describing the process and his experience with the virus, and returning to work. Hamburger is a father of three, and he believes his whole family got the coronavirus. At the hospital, he is usually an obstetrician-gynecologist anesthesiologist, but he volunteered to be on the “rapid response team,” where he’s intubating patients. “He thought since he already has antibodies he would rather take the spot on the front lines instead of having one of his coworkers potentially get exposed by sick patients,” the statement from the hospital said.
