The Switzer Report founder Peter Switzer says “the Aussie economy is really tracking nicely” but acknowledges the outlook rests on whether a second wave of coronavirus hits the country. “Seek job ad numbers were very good, the Westpac consumer confidence number saw a very big rebound, business confidence also had one of the biggest rises ever,” he said. “If you put it all together, the Aussie economy is really tracking nicely, but I think the bottom line is if there are second wave problems, I don’t know how bad it’ll be.” If a second wave of the virus did hit, Mr Switzer said he expected the government to take a different approach to stemming the issue. “I think what we’re going to do is isolate the areas and the people involved, but I don’t think they’ll do a big hibernation-type shutdown,” he said.
