A green fireball – identified as a possible meteor by local media – was seen streaking across the night sky in Western Australia’s remote Pilbara region on June 14. “Martians have hit the Pilbara. Next phase of 2020 incoming!” Joshua Vearing posted to Facebook with a video of the object falling from the sky. The video was filmed from a mine site in the iron ore-rich area. A post by the American Meteor Society identified that the Beta Equulids meteor shower was due to occur on June 14. Credit: Joshua Vearing via Storyful
