NSW to ease restrictions on indoor, outdoor gatherings from June 13

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced restrictions will ease, allowing up to 20 people to gather indoors and outdoors as well as the reopening of food courts across New South Wales from June 13. Premier Berejiklian said the decision was based on "science and data" that showed activity in the community was "increasing substantially" but "the number of cases presented" was not. "So long as that continues, we can continue to ease restrictions," she said. The Premier expressed how "grateful" she was nearly 20,000 businesses had downloaded the COVIDSafe checklist which she said increased the chance of not having to "shut back down". "New South Wales is moving the fastest out of all the states, even though we had the highest number of cases," she said. "We're very keen to get jobs back into the community but we're also keen to make sure it's sustainable and longlasting." Premier Berejiklian acknowledged the "enormous responsibility" she bore and said she had "absolutely no regrets" about locking NSW down as quickly and as firmly as she did.
