New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has condemned public demonstrations taking place across the nation over the death of George Floyd as they violate social distancing guidelines and mass gathering laws. The prime minister condemned the killing of Mr Floyd but said while she sympathised with the sentiment of protestors she could not condone thousands flouting lockdown laws. Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters said if the protests were allowed to continue, NZ should move to stage one restrictions immediately. Ms Ardern announced the national cabinet meeting to determine when to further ease restrictions has been brought forward from June 22 to next week. Image: Getty
