InvestSMART's Evan Lucas says a "record decline" in retail sales of about 17.9 per cent is expected for April as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, echoing Treasurer Josh Frydenberg's comments Australia was in a recession. Australia's Gross Domestic Product contracted by 0.3 per cent for the March quarter - broadly in line with market expectations of about 0.4 per cent. "The second quarter is really going to be quite stark and will explain how bad it is," Mr Lucas said. Image: News Corp Australia
