America's top military officer, General Mark Milley, has apologised for walking alongside President Donald Trump in a photo opportunity outside a church in Washington DC. Mr Trump's walk to Lafayette Square to pose outside the church proved controversial after it was revealed authorities used pepper spray to clear the park of peaceful protestors. General Milley said his presence threatened his commitment to a military separate from politics. The President is yet to respond to General Milley's statement.
