John Lewis Given Final Salute at Joint Base Andrews

Georgia congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis was given a final salute at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on June 29, as the casket carrying his body was flown to Atlanta, where he will be buried on Thursday. Lewis died at age 80 on July 17, after battling pancreatic cancer. Multiple memorials honoring the late congressman were held in the Capitol, where Lewis lay in state, as well as in Alabama, where a procession took him one last time over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. This footage was taken by the Air Force at Joint Base Andrews, where Lewis arrived in a large motorcade, his casket wrapped in an American flag. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, former President Barack Obama is expected to speak at Lewis’s funeral in Atlanta. Former presidents George W Bush and Bill Clinton are also set to attend. Credit: US Air Force via Storyful
