Winter Storm Winds Whip Snow Through Queens

Heavy snow and driving winds hit Queens, New York, on Monday, February 1, with the National Weather Service forecasters expecting the wintry conditions to continue in the area through Tuesday. The National Weather Service’s New York City office said the storm dumped over 16 inches of snow on Central Park and nearly 13 inches were recorded at LaGuardia Airport in Queens. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio restricted “all non-emergency travel” after 6 am on Monday in anticipation of heavy snow and strong winds.
