NSW Police are investigating the discovery of 17,000 tonnes of asbestos waste they say was illegally dumped after being removed from a Sydney construction site. Investigators suspect the waste was carted to Kulnura from a site at Sydney's Green Square under the pretence it was ‘clean fill’, a combination soil, concrete and other building materials. It's alleged fake documents were created to trick the developers into believing the asbestos was disposed of safely. Police have linked the operation to the arrest of a 48-year-old man who tried to flee the country in August. Image: Supplied / News Corp Australia
