Cricket Australia has issued an apology over James Faulkner's same-sex social media post. The cricketer called his best friend and business partner his 'boyfriend' in an Instagram post on Monday night. Cricket Australia initially said the pair are just ‘business partners, not in a relationship’, that and the post was ‘a joke about how much time they’ve been spending together'. Mr Faulkner also released a statement, clearing up any ‘misunderstanding’ about his post, saying ‘I am not gay, however, it has been fantastic to see the support from and for the LGBT community’. Cricket Australia later issued a new statement, saying it 'does not consider the social commentary this morning to be a joke', adding that the governing body and Mr Faulkner are 'supportive of the LGBQTI community'.
