Sky News Political Editor David Speers says it augurs well for Labor that Anthony Albanese is conceding that some of the party's economic policies contributed to its election defeat. Instead of securing government, Labor lost seats in Queensland, Tasmania and NSW, with the party due to finish with 68 seats, well below the 76 needed to govern in majority. Speaking with reporters after the party’s first post-election caucus meeting, Mr Albanese conceded Labor’s controversial franking credits policy may have ‘alienated’ it from some 'aspirational' voters. Mr Speers says Mr Albanese’s stance differs from his predecessor Bill Shorten, who blamed the loss on ‘corporate leviathans.’
