Australia needs to be wary of getting involved in contentious international disputes for fear of possible reprisals, according to Herald Sun’s Political Editor James Campbell. United States is calling on its allies to help it carry out patrols in the Persian Gulf’s Strait of Hormuz, which is a key route for global oil supplies. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to ask Australia to help with patrols in Strait of Hormuz during his visit to Sydney on Sunday. Mr Campbell says Australia "needs to be conscious" that by joining international operations, we could be "putting ourselves in harms way." He says America's adversaries could try and target America by "clipping Australia's wings."
