Man charged over Gold Coast siege

A Gold Coast suburb has been sent into lockdown, with an alleged gunman leading police on a three- hour siege. A 29-year-old man has been charged after a series of alleged armed robberies and a standoff with police at a Southport service station on Friday night. The man was taken into custody around midnight and the declaration was revoked a short time later. He has since been charged with 15 offences, including five counts of armed robbery. He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday. Image: Twitter/Queensland Police
