August 14, 2019. NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller and the NSW Police Minister David Elliot speak to the media regarding the arrest of alleged stabber Mert Nay in Sydney's CBD. Mr Nay is in hospital and receiving treatment for a leg wound. Mr Fuller say Nay will be released into police custody later today. The Commissioner says the investigation has yet to determine if the accused had any terrorist links. The police are also investigating the link to Nay and the murder of a woman nearby. Police Minister David Elliot praises the members of the public who captured Nay and held him till the police arrived."Yesterday we saw Sydney at it's best," Mr Elliot says. "I'd like to think that any Sydney-sider would act in a similar way." (AAP Video/Angelo Risso)
