A spectator at a Sherman High School boys basketball game in Texas was escorted from the stands on December 20 after allegedly shouting “go back to Mexico” to a referee on the floor. Sara Carpenter, a local photojournalist, posted video from the game, held at Sherman High School against Melissa High School. “Shout out to Sherman HS students for giving a proper goodbye to a spectator who was ejected after shouting ‘Go back to Mexico’ to one of the referees during a basketball game,” Carpenter wrote. The fans in the stands can be heard singing “hey, hey, hey, goodbye” in the video, which does not capture the alleged racist taunt. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that school officials asked police to escort the fan from the venue, however the man was not arrested. Credit: Sara Carpenter via Storyful
