Firefighters with Victoria’s Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board turned the water on in Melbourne’s Yarra Bend Park on December 20 to provide much needed hydration to thirsty bats living among the trees. According to 9News reports, the heat reached record-breaking levels in recent days, ahead of another scorching weekend. The temperature in Melbourne was forecasted to reach 44 degrees Celsius, or 111 degrees Fahrenheit on December 21, the report said. The last time temperatures reached to that extreme level during the month of December was in 1876. Credit: Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board via Storyful
