NSW residents told to reassess travel plans amid catastrophic fire danger.

December 21, 2019. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons speaking to media at the RFS headquarters in Sydney's west about catastrophic fire conditions impacting the state. Berejiklian says emergency services and government are asking anybody planning to travel on roads near fire grounds to rethink. "At very short notice any of the fire fronts that are active can become very dangerous in a short amount of time," she says. Fitzsimmons similarly says that any drivers should check whether closures will affect them before heading out. "Another tough day, a dangerous day where we need everybody to heed the warnings make sensible and considered decisions; make those decisions early," he says. (AAP VIDEO/Andrew Leeson)
