An 85-year-old man is one of two Queenslanders to have died from COVID-19 overnight, bringing the nation’s death toll to 24. Nine Queenslanders remain in intensive care where they are being treated for the coronavirus. Meanwhile, in Victoria, a woman in her 70s also died from the virus overnight. More than 45,000 health workers have been asked to rejoin the workforce, including retired doctors and nurses, to help in the fight against COVID-19.
