Coronvirus pandemic sees the ‘merging of home life and work life writ large’

A rise in the number of people working from home means “the way that managers and leaders communicate with their teams in these incredibly unusual times is seeing a real shift,” Institute of Managers and Leaders CEO David Pich says. Mr Pich told Sky News the current situation has seen the “merging of work life and home life writ large”. He said the IML was pushing its members to be transparent with their team during uncertain times and to be straightforward about the reality of the situation and what it would mean for the work. “The role of the leader is not to have all of the answers,” he said. “What we are encouraging people to do is focus on some of the highlights of good managements and leadership that we see and we see that locally – and it is really about focusing on people. “The focus on people is something that I really hope lives on when this pandemic and this crisis passes.” Image: Getty
